about

I tap into material cultures and their stories of adaptations, traditions and processes.
DIY fashion workshops. A COVID-19 pandemic memorial. One-on-one story-making sessions. Found-object sculpture promoting sustainable tourism.  Online scholarship projects on art and on Philippine culture.  These are among my recent works.

My background in population studies, economics and fashion informs my practice.  I have produced artistic projects, several of which have been in Southeast Asian cities, that have strengthened the collaborative and cooperative aspect of my art-making.

Malikhain Community and Art Space is a mobile, artist-led space that I have founded. It had its first gathering through the Threatened Species Exhibition in February 2023.

CuriousPhilippines is an online scholarship project that I started in 2012.  It presents different facets of Filipino heritage as discovered first hand.  It has evolved to become a research aid in documenting trends, patterns and stories that I use in organizing and mining information for my practice.  Other artists and friends have acted as contributors to the project.
While Making Art was put up in 2016 after years of experiments and research.  There I share notes on trends, resources, spaces, and projects I follow or encounter.

Kindness: A tapestry collection (working title) is in development.

This site chronicles my artistic practice.
