A Pimple that Become a Mole activity with Rumah Tuli Jatiwangi

After several years, I had the opportunity to go back and visit Jatiwangi in West Java, Indonesia. I was an artist resident of Jatiwangi Art Factory there. Over the years, I've kept in touch with Umi Luthfi, my go-to person during the residency.

It was so nice to see and spend a bit of time with the Jatiwangi Art Factory folks again. And to work with the people from Rumah Tuli Jatiwangi (RTJ), firstly Umi. She and her husband have, among other things, put up RTJ.

On a Saturday morning in April, Umi, Fuad, and the deaf students of RTJ allowed me to share my ongoing project, A Pimple that Become a Mole, with them. We had a story-making mini-session using the images from the project.

In their social media post, RTJ said:

Workshop with @wearmesa tentang memikirkan , membayangkan visualisasi bentuk yang terdapat di dalam sebuah foto dan menceritakan menurut imajinasinya masing-masing. Dan hari ini kami belajar dengan senang dan terima kasih.

Rough translation: A workshop with @wearmesa about thinking/interpreting the shapes found in the images and telling stories based on our own imagination. Today, we learned with joy and gratitude.
